Hack the Dragon

DEMO! SOME AREAS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE AND SOME AREAS REMAIN UNFINISHED

Welcome to the homepage for Hack the Dragon 2025! I am so excited you're here with us learning how to hack! Don't be overwhelmed! This event is designed for you to learn however much you want to learn. There is no expectation of you to finish every single challenge. If you feel overwhelmed, step back and take a breather. It's all good. Work together! Explore! Break things (that are ok for you to break)! But have fun!

Here's a list of challenges for you to play around with!

Here's some context on the challenges. The Escape Room is a simple but fun introduction to hacking that includes visuals and makes you feel like one of those movie hackers. Granted, the real world hacking is different. The room has hints to help you along the way! What if you've done Coding with My Girls before and you're looking for a challenge? I've got you covered. The Capture the Flag event is for those who want to test their hacking skills. It is difficult, but I am proud of you guys for trying!

So you need some extra tools? Well, you're in luck! Here are a few extra tools for you!

And also an FAQ!

Question: What am I looking at?

Here's a quick explanation of these tools! CyberChef is a tool that can decrypt hashes and ciphers. Of course, it can do a lot more, but for now we're keeping it simple. Drag and drop elements into the recipe and watch it do it's magic! Hashes.com can also crack hashes and ciphers easy! Metadata2go helps you find secret hidden data in images. There can be a lot of hidden data held within image metadata. Who knows? Google dorking is a way to take advantage of Google's search engine and target specific results. It filters through all the clutter and gives you exactly what you ask for.

Question: What if I don't know how to use a tool?

Call me over and I'll give you some wise sage advice probably. Note that I can't solve everything for you.

Question: What if I find a tool online and I want to use that?

Use it! And tell me what tool it was so I can put it on the list for future Hack The Dragon events!
